SHANNEN IN ACTION

Shannen Rossmiller passionately believes that the public deserves to hear the good news, too, when it occurs in the global War on Terror. So with her prompting, officials have agreed to declassify and release over 200 of her secret counter-terrorism operations and captures -- untold stories of courage and victory, carried out by hundreds of our hidden heroes.

Here is a sampling of dramatic headlines from the files:

Creating Undercover Characters (2002): To communicate undercover with the online terrorists, Shannen concocts dozens of elaborate male extremist identities…

TARGETING STINGER MISSILES ON THE BLACK MARKET (August, 2002):  In her first chat-room sting, Shannen convinces a man in Pakistan that she is a male extremist arms-dealer.  He offers her stolen U.S. stinger missiles for the jihad...

INTERCEPTING A NOTE FROM SADDAM'S RAT HOLE (June, 2003):  Pretending to be an insurgent web messenger, Shannen agrees to scan and forward a scribbled letter from the deposed Saddam Hussein, hiding in Iraq...

SOLDIER RYAN ANDERSON'S TREASON (October 6, 2003):  Shannen meets "Amir Abdul Rashid" in an al-Qaeda chat room. He soon reveals he's an American Muslim convert in Seattle, real identity, National Guard Specialist Ryan Anderson.  So begins Shannen's four months of emails to snare this soldier-turncoat, who is offering Army battle plans and weapon secrets to al-Qaeda...

STOPPING Al-QAEDA'S SPRING OFFENSIVE (January, 2004):  Shannen's next chat-room sting snares a sleeper-terrorist, working in Afghanistan as a popular journalist.  Trusting her Arab-messenger character, he asks her to forward a top-secret battle plan to al-Qaeda leaders...

INTERCEPTING A PALESTINIAN HIT-SQUAD (Nov., 2004 to Feb., 2005): A man in the Palestinian territories approaches al Qaeda "recruiter" Shannen on a blog.  He offers to set up a jihadist cell that would train to assassinate moderate leader Abu Mazen...

CAPTURING WMD TERROR CELL (October, 2004 thru January 24, 2005):  From 7000 miles away, Shannen cyber-snares nine members of al-Qaeda in a Gulf nation - bent on going into neighboring Iraq with chemical weapons...

CAPTURING TWO NUCLEAR JIHADISTS (March thru July, 2005):  During a chat-room trolling, al-Qaeda "recruiter" Shannen is approached by a new terror volunteer -- it's a nuclear expert at an Arab University, offering to design an atomic bomb for the Jihad...

Months later, a Jordanian studying in Ohio -- also with a background in nuclear physics -- offers more expertise to online extremists...

SNARING A LONDON TERRORIST (September, 2005):  Posing as an extremist cell leader in Belgium, Shannen befriends a chat-room jihadist -- based in London, shortly after the deadly subway bombings...

SAVING THE ALASKA PIPELINE (February, 2006):  Acting as a "terrorism banker" in an al-Qaeda chat room, Shannen meets a disgruntled American oil engineer named Michael Curtis Reynolds.  The man claims he is organizing a cell of Asian Muslims to truck-bomb three critical oil storage hubs in the USA, including the Alaska Pipeline...

HONORED (October 17, 2006):  An international organization of Middle Eastern experts quietly flies Shannen into Los Angeles.  And at a private event with no local press, she is presented with a national award for heroism...

SOLDIER DIALS 9-1-1 FOR SHANNEN (Feb. 22nd, 2007):  A frustrated Army major in Afghanistan emails Shannen's website. He can't get ongoing surveillance for threats related to his helicopters, meaningful or otherwise, from the NSA. Shannen cuts red tape and uncovers 20 threats…

FBI CYBER-SECURITY SEMINAR (January 8th, 2009):  The Bureau flies Shannen in to New York to brief a sensitive assembly of 500 cyber-security leaders from enforcement, academia and industry from 40 nations….

SHANNEN'S LIFE STORY PUBLISHED (August 30th, 2011): Shannen and co-author Sue Carswell release the cyber-spy's personal journey, along with declassified details from her most dramatic cases, in the new Palgrave/Macmillan book, THE UNEXPECTED PATRIOT -- in time for the tenth anniversary of 9/11.
